An address picker has filled in the right Singapore block and street. Before accepting it, look for the unit the recipient gave you. In #08-12, 08 is the storey and 12 is the unit on that storey. A form that saves only “12” has dropped part of the address.
One box, or two?
Suppose the recipient supplies a block and street followed by #08-12. Here’s how to enter that fragment on different forms. The numbers illustrate the fields only.
| Field on the form | What goes there |
|---|---|
| Block / house no. and street | Enter the recipient’s building number and street. If the form separates them, put each in its own field. |
| One free-text Unit / Apt field | Enter #08-12 once if that format is accepted. When the form already prints the hash sign, enter 08-12 and check the result. |
| Separate Floor and Unit fields | Enter 08 under Floor and 12 under Unit. Read them together again in the saved address. |
| Street address plus an optional second line | Keep the block and street together. Use the second line for the full unit designation if there is no dedicated field. Carry over a supplied building name as space permits. |
Read the supplied designation literally. A basement unit such as #B1-12 is on B1. Dropping the letter changes the level. Some properties have no assigned unit. Leave an optional unit field empty in that case. Singapore’s numbering handbook explains both the unit notation and when a property address includes it. IRAS house and unit numbering handbook
Check what the address picker saved
- Compare the building. SingPost’s postcode finder takes a building, block or house number and a street name. Use it to check the six-digit postcode against that address. The result cannot supply the intended flat for you. Find a postal code
- Compare the unit after saving. If you entered
#08-12but the confirmation shows only the block, street and postcode, reopen the saved address. Some summaries hide the second line. Check the full delivery address or label preview. - Resolve any difference before ordering. If the unit is missing there too, put it in the merchant’s supported delivery-address field and save again. If the form accepts digits only and offers no way to retain both parts, ask the merchant how to enter the address. An order note may never appear on the label.
On domestic mail, SingPost’s examples place the building number and street together, show the level/unit with the building name where applicable, and end with Singapore and the six-digit postcode. Use the recipient’s exact details for mail. To test just the postcode and building fields in a form, the site’s generator supplies building-level examples.
